Dio foi banda de heavy metal criada por Ronnie James Dio[1942-2010] em 1982 após sua saída do Black Sabbath. Em entrevista disponível na edição especial do álbum Holy Diver, Dio disse que nunca teve intenção de começar um projeto solo e sim apenas formar uma nova banda, juntamente com o baterista ex-Black Sabbath, Vinny Appice.
